One booking from Cusco that carries the train, the shuttle bus, the entry ticket and a certified guide for about two and a half hours inside the citadel.
Updated 9 October 2026
From $360, this tour takes you from your hotel in Cusco to the citadel and back inside 14 to 16 hours. The price covers pickup in Cusco, the tourist bus to Ollantaytambo station, Voyager or Expedition train tickets in both directions, the round-trip CONSETUR bus between Aguas Calientes and the gate, the Machu Picchu entry ticket on circuit 1, 2 or 3 subject to availability, all fees and taxes, a certified tourist guide for roughly two and a half hours at the site, and the transfer back to your hotel at the end. Lunch is excluded.
The return leg uses the bimodal service, so you travel part of the way by train and then continue into Cusco by bus. On the way out the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes runs 1 hour 45 minutes, with crop fields, grazing land and snow peaks on either side, and the shuttle from the Aguas Calientes bus station to the sanctuary entrance takes 30 minutes.
Guiding is the part that changes the day. Two and a half hours with a certified guide is long enough to walk the main sectors at a reasonable pace, and the regulation caps groups inside the citadel at sixteen visitors, with the guide staying with the group throughout and carrying a flag or banner from five visitors upward. After the guided walk you get free time for photographs before heading back down.
Entry tickets are nominal: each one carries your full name and ID document number, names and dates cannot be changed later, and you enter at the exact hour printed on the ticket. Give the passport details you will travel with when you book, spelled exactly as in the document.
Hotel pickup, tourist bus to Ollantaytambo, train both ways, CONSETUR bus, entry on circuit 1, 2 or 3 subject to availability, all fees and taxes, and a transfer back to your hotel. Lunch is the one thing you pay separately.

The day tour on this page is the shortest way to get the whole chain of transport, ticket and guiding in one booking; the two-day version splits the travelling across two days with a night closer to the site, and the eight-day Peru trip folds Machu Picchu into a longer Cusco-region itinerary. The 18-hour alternative is a longer day with far fewer reviews behind it.
